POP-Up Talent Pathway


This exciting new grassroots initiative is designed to support emerging filmmakers to develop their first independent feature film, with strong creative vision and a practical pathway to production.


Successful applicant(s) will receive:

  • NZ$1000 development grant
  • 100 hours of professional industry support and mentorship from Great Dog Productions (the Production Company behind the feature film POP)
  • A domestic premiere through Terror-Fi Film Festival / Admit One Entertainment

Once you are registered, we’ll send you an application pack with helpful advice. We will also be sharing a series of free online educational resources throughout the application period via the @popthefilm Instagram account.

Your final application (due November 30th) must include the following:

  • A photo of you at a POP screening
  • A photo of your ticket to a POP screening
  • One page synopsis
  • One page low-budget strategy
  • One page audience engagement strategy
  • One page team bios (including links to previous work)

To ensure the Pop-Up Talent Pathway is accessible for folks who cannot attend a cinema screening we will host select online screenings in late November.

  • This programme does not produce feature films.
  • We are not investing in, acquiring, commissioning or producing any submitted projects.
  • Applicants retain 100% ownership of all intellectual property submitted.
  • Submission of an application does not transfer or license any rights to the organisers.
  • We will use submitted materials solely for the purpose of assessing applications and administering this programme.
  • Due to the volume of applications, individual feedback will not be provided to unsuccessful applicants.
  • Applicants must be New Zealand residents currently living in New Zealand.
